Top China Companies To Own In Right Now

Ford's (NYSE: F  ) recent sales results have showed the Blue Oval gaining market share in the U.S. but they've come with something that has some investors worried: large fleet sales, traditionally a low-profit way for automakers to keep production numbers high.

Over 30% of Ford's U.S. sales are to fleets, and that has some investors concerned that Ford is missing out on profits or "juicing" its sales numbers. In this video, Fool.com contributor John Rosevear breaks down Ford's fleet numbers in more detail and looks at whether Ford's big fleet sales are a sign that its recovery is stalling.

Ford's sales growth in the U.S. has been strongbut its growth in China is even more impressive. Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Jim Jubak]

The New York traded ADRs of China's Home Inns and Hotels Management (HMIN) have climbed 15.5% from September 24 to the close on October 11.

Part of the reason is a October 10 recommendation from Goldman Sachs that added the ADRs to its top pick list. And part of the reason is a huge surge in domestic travel during China's recently concluded National Day holiday week. (Home Inns and Hotels Management is a member of my Jubak's Picks portfolio.)

    Positive Clarification on eLong (LONG)

There were rumours in the recent past that Expedia is considering selling its 65% stake in eLong. On July 7, 2014, Expedia announced that the talk on selling the stake was indeed a rumour and Expedia remains a long-term investor in eLong to support eLong's drive to become the leading Chinese travel site.

    The main on-line competitors are:

Qunar.com, a travel website owned by Baidu (BIDU) and a few venture fundseLong (LONG), backed by Tencent (TCEHY.PK) and Expedia (EXPE). Analyst expect it to generate $163M in revenue next year

That is pretty serious competition, needless to say. Having the backing of Baidu or Expedia offers several advantages, but Ctrip is the biggest and most established company. It's quite difficult to compare Qunar.com to Ctrip, for the simple sake that Qunar is a private company. However, there can be little doubt that it constitutes serious competition:
